This day, we continued working on the Archi. However, we also have been working on other projects. Euan Gullick and Daniel Le worked on a stop-motion animation that will serve as an intro to Geddy Mukama's animation, titled "The Great Wool War". Apart from that, the painting team has been painting the underneath of the jersey that the knitting team is going to knit while some other fantastic students have been constructing and designing the base for the cow.
. Concept art for the animation down below. The class of 7E broke into 3 groups. One group would construct a base for Archi and used our skills from wood tech to make a solid foundation made from carpet and wood. Another group would work on our Archi, making pom poms and french knitting or painting Archi whilst incorporating our classes ideas. A smaller group updated our blog, recording what we had done in all of our Archi days. Also, a classmate made an animation reel for this project.
On this day we started doing designs for Archi in small groups. We had large pieces of paper and we drew ideas for the possible designs of Archi. We eventually, as a class decided on an idea and got into larger groups elaborating on our ideas which were a screen a tree and a spinning wheel. At the end of the day, we all got different ideas from different groups and tried to incorporate them into the Archi. After we finally decided on our main layout of Archi we drew that idea onto Archi.
On this day our young champion farmer named Sam came to help us learn about sheep and wool!We had fun playing some games learning and even doing a short scripted role-play!. She told us about climate change, bio security and how wool is the best material to use in clothing. At the end we got to practice our pom pom and french knitting skills.
On this day we started off our day by playing a board game about job opportunities you can get in the sheep industry, lets just say its was like a sheep job monopoly if you get what im saying... After that we were talking about some questions we could ask our young farmer champion, as well as that we were learning about her at the same time. We talked a little bit about sheep so that we knew a base line or the basics of what our young farmer champion (Sam) would be talking about.
On our first Archi-Day we were introduced to Arch and because nobody had ever seen a giant life sized fiberglass cow we were pretty exited, we also were introduced to the wool industry. We were then introduced to climate change, bio security and careers in the wool industry. We also opened up a google classroom where we can share ideas, photos and information on our time doing the Archibull Prize. After this Archi day we had a clear idea on what the Archibull prize was about and what to include in our blog. |
